During the summer, hot and humid weather and pollution can activate excess sebum production, leading to clogged pores and acne.
To combat this problem, consumers are advised to cleanse the skin twice daily with a gentle, non-drying cleanser and toner, moisturise and apply an oil-free SPF in the morning. Anything additional in your skincare regimen is a bonus.
Custodio d’Avo, global brand director for luxury Swiss skincare brand, Swissline – known for its skin-friendly, barrier-protecting products – offers some effective face-saving summer solutions for those with oily skin.
“Begin the day as you mean to finish it – with well-cleansed skin,” says d’Avo.
“For oily skin, I recommend Swissline’s Skin Refining Foam Cleanser, formulated with prebiotics and botanical extracts, as it gently removes dirt, oil and pollutants while maintaining the skin’s balance.
“Next, apply the Pore-Reducing Water, formulated with niacinamide and a combination of botanical extracts. It’s a great follow-on product as it not only removes residual dirt, oil and pollutants, it also calms the skin and facilitates the elimination of toxins.
“Applying an SPF – whether you have oily skin or not – should be a crucial final step of everyone’s skincare regimen” states d’Avo.
“Never Screen Sunscreen SPF 30, a broad-spectrum formula with an invisible finish and oil-free touch, is particularly well suited for those with combination-oily skin, as it regulates sebum (without a drying effect), and can double as a lightweight moisturiser.
“It also strengthens the barrier function, brightens the skin and helps to reduce lines and wrinkles.”
