‘Luxury budget’ hotel concept to launch in September
Sinclair Beecham, co-founder of the Pret a Manger sandwich chain, is to launch his first “luxury budget” hotel in the City of London on 1 September this year.
Each of the 205 rooms at the four-star Hoxton Hotel will boast an en-suite, modern décor, a flat screen TV, digital radio and free WIFI.
A spokesperson for the company explained the luxury budget concept: “Although the maid will clean the room every day, there will be no chocolate on the pillow at night. There’ll be no armless bandit of a mini-bar either – only a well-stocked shop in the hotel’s reception, selling everything from alcohol to chocolates.”
In addition, there will be an independently operated restaurant and lobby bar, and for £10, guests will be able to use a local fitness centre with a swimming pool.
The Times reported that Beecham intends to roll out the brand in Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham. Details: www.hoxtonhotels.com
