£7m Slieve Donard Resort Spa to open in July
The £15m revamp of the Slieve Donard Hotel in Northern Ireland is due to be completed in July.
The hotel, which is situated at the foot of the Mountains of Mourne, will be transformed into a luxury spa-based resort with £7m spent on the spa construction.
Designed by Henry McConnell of Robinson Patterson Architects in conjunction with ESPA, the Slieve Donard spa will contain 16 treatment rooms and cover a total area of 30,130sq ft (2,800sq m).
Signature treatments will be based around Ayurveda and ESPA products will be used exclusively.
Additional facilities will include a 20m swimming pool and two vitality pools with panoramic views of the Mourne Mountains.
The Slieve Donard Hotel is 110 years old and is the centrepiece of the Northern Irish coastal town of Newcastle.
Owned by the Hastings Hotels Group, the £15m overhaul represents the largest ever investment development in the group’s history.
