£70m Hinckley regeneration scheme
Plans for the £70m regeneration of the bus station site in Hinckley, Leicestershire, have been submitted.
As well as a new bus station and food store, the proposals for The Crescent include a five-screen multiplex cinema, a bowling alley and a number of family restaurants.
The project is the brainchild of The Tin Hat Regeneration Partnership – a joint partnership between Wilson Bowden Developments and Centenary Ashcroft.
Will Robinson, speaking on behalf of the partnership, said: “We have been working closely with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and all stakeholders over the last 18 months, to design a scheme that will meet the aspirations and shopping and leisure needs of the people of Hinckley. The planning application is a major step on the way to delivering the vision for the transformation of this part of Hinckley town centre.
“We are in advance negotiations with both foodstore and cinema operators and we hope to be making an announcement on this very shortly, which will signal a further major stride forward in the delivery of this project.”
Council leader, Stuart Bray, added: “It’s really exciting that a planning application has been finally submitted and that the town could soon be getting the cinema and bowling alley, which people have been requesting for years.”
