£50m LeisureDome plans submitted
Plans for a major new £50m regional leisure complex in Weston-super-Mare - housing the UK's largest indoor real snow ski slope - have been submitted to North Somerset Council.
LeisureDome will form part of St Modwen's Locking Parklands development and will also feature an indoor climbing centre; a health club; a children's activity zone; and a crèche. London-based consultancy GVA has submitted plans on behalf of LeisureDome (UK), with a host of other extreme sport and leisure activities to be incorporated into the new complex.
The venue - located on the eastern boundary of Locking Parklands - will be developed over three floors with more than 33,000sq m (355,000sq ft) of floorspace. LeisureDome (UK) director Clive Hamilton-Davies said: "This proposition is extremely exciting and we look forward to bringing it to fruition.
"We have worked closely with North Somerset Council and we are delighted to be able to formally submit our plans for their consideration." Sir Robert McAlpine Design Group; Cooper Partnership; Clarke Willmott; Key Transport; and Andy Rooke Financial Consultancy with Chartwell Funding are also involved.
