£12.5m West Brom centre on track for 2014 opening
Construction work on the new £12.5m West Bromwich Leisure Centre is on track and the facility is expected to open to the public by September 2014.
The steel structure is now in place and the pool tanks have been cast and tested for the new centre, which will include a 25m pool, learner pool, sauna and steamroom and a four-court sports hall.
A 100-station fitness suite, two dance studios/activity rooms, indoor children's adventure play centre and café are also planned.
The centre will be owned by Sandwell Council, which has appointed DC Leisure to operate the facility.
Councillor Paul Moore, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: "This is just one of a whole host of new leisure centres Sandwell Council is building. We are investing in the future to make sure people have modern, high quality leisure facilities."
