sporta members sign up to support the UKFN
A further four sporta members have been appointed as directors of the UK Fitness Network (UKFN), which links trust-managed leisure centres allowing customers to exercise at more than 100 different sites across the UK.
The new directors - Steve Ward from Greenwich Leisure, Peter King from Fusion, Karen Burrell from Freedom Leisure and Ken Leggate from Redbridge Sports and Leisure - were elected at the UKFN's first AGM in December 2009, to help shape the strategic direction of the organisation and lead on specialist areas such as IT, expansion and marketing.
Phil Rumbelow from Jubilee Hall Trust was re-elected as chair of the non-profit making limited company and Jon Stemp remains on the board as a director representing the wider fitness industry. The positions will be reappointed at each AGM.
Phil Rumbelow said: "We have an excellent balance of representatives from both large and small trusts on the Board, as well as a mix of important skills. In the last year, the UKFN has grown significantly. With one membership card our customers can now gain access to 136 leisure centres across England to use gyms, pools, saunas and group exercise classes. We are confident that, with the new Board in place, we can further expand the network across the UK."
