Youth Sport Trust appoints new chief executive
John Steele, former chief executive of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), has been named as the new chief executive of the Youth Sport Trust (YST) with effect from 6 February.
Steele, who departed English rugby union's national governing body last June, has enjoyed an extensive career within the sector and previously led elite performance agency UK Sport.
YST said the appointment came at an "exciting time" for the charity as it helps to deliver a number of initiatives such as the School Games, the government's flagship sports policy.
"Leading an organisation which is playing such an important role within this country's sporting landscape is an honour," said Steele.
"In this, the Olympic and Paralympic year, we simply must ensure that every young person has the opportunity to take part in more PE and sport."
Baroness Sue Campbell has held the role of chief executive since March 2011 and will now return to her role as chair.
