Working Health and Nautilus open Home Office gym
Corporate health and fitness provider Working Health and equipment supplier Nautilus have pulled out all the stops to open a gym in just three weeks.
The 30-station gym is part of a recreation centre for the 3,200 staff at the Home Office’s new headquarters in Westminster.
Working Health won the Home Office contract following a competitive tendering process, but only had three weeks in which to set up the facility, which features a full range of cardio equipment – bikes, ellipticals and treadmills – together with Nitro resistance training machines and StairMaster steppers.
As part of its contract, Nautilus also provided a complete training programme for newly-appointed staff including operational use, preventative maintenance and equipment programming.
Additional facilities provided by the recreation centre include a full-size sports hall, aerobics studio, treatment and therapy rooms.
Working Health will operate the new facility at no cost to The Home Office while providing both on and offsite staff members with a complete range of membership options at fees lower than those offered by major fitness chains.
The centre has already signed up 1,000 members in its first few weeks and hopes to attract 1,500 members in total.
Working Health also operates health club facilities for a number of other government departments including the Foreign Office, Met Office and National Audit Office.
