Work starts on £8m Haringey park scheme
Haringey Council has announced that work is now underway on an £8m project to overhaul Lordship Recreation Ground in Tottenham, North London.
The council is contributing up to £3m, with the Heritage Lottery Fund investing nearly £4m. Further funding has come from the mayor of London and the Environment Agency. Work will include the restoration of the Moselle River and the park's historic features, such as the Shell Theatre and a model traffic area for cycle proficiency training.
Other improvements include the creation of a new environment centre; a new bicycle track; an information centre and a community shop, as well as extensive landscaping work. Haringey Council cabinet member for adults and community services Dilek Dogus said: "This work will transform Lordship Rec and provide facilities that the whole community can use and enjoy."
