Work gets underway on Leominster gym extension
Halo Leisure is set invest £280,000 in doubling the size of the gym at Leominster Leisure Centre.
The existing gym is a former single squash court conversion, but work beginning next week will see a further court converted and knocked through to make one larger space. A mezzanine floor will be installed to house strength and free weights equipment.
The 49-station gym is being supplied with remanufactured Life Fitness equipment from Physique and work is expected to be completed in January next year.
Gym extensions are also planned for two more of the centres operated by the sports trust. Hereford Leisure Centre will see a £270,000 conservatory-style extension built while Ross Sports Centre's fitness suite will be enlarged to cover 138sq m and offer 37 stations in a £180,000 project.
Work is scheduled to begin at both sites later this year. Alliance Leisure will be carrying out the redevelopments at all three sites in a deal worth a total of £750,000.
Elsewhere, Halo Leisure has created three new roles within the organisation, appointing Louise Pinnell as marketing co-ordinator, Tamara Bailey as health and fitness co-ordinator and Penny Southwood as community partnerships manager.
