Work begins on Worthing's Splash Point
Work has begun on the £500,000 Splash Point project in Worthing.
The scheme - part of Worthing Borough Council's wider regeneration project for the East Sussex town - will feature seating, lighting, tamarisk trees, a misting water feature and will provide an outside venue for local artists to perform.
Leader of the council, Paul Yallop, said: “We recognise the summer is perhaps not the best time to do this work, but because of all the government cuts we are not prepared to take the chance of losing the external money from Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) which has to be spent by end of October.
“When it is complete this is going to be a real asset for Worthing attracting locals and visitors and provide a boost to local businesses.”
The project is expected to be completed by 18 October in time for a Halloween party on 30 October.
