Willmott Dixon to launch leisure sector version of Sunesis concept

Willmott Dixon, the Hertfordshire-based construction company, has announced its plans to launch a new leisure sector version of its standardised build concept this summer.
Sunesis was officially unveiled last year in collaboration with Scape - a company owned by six local authorities to provide "various tools" to increase efficiency in the public sector.
The concept currently offers ready-made school designs for the education sector, with the first standardised school now on site in Birmingham and due for completion by September.
Announcing its results for 2011, Willmott Dixon group chief executive Rick Willmott said: "We intend to launch a leisure sector version of Sunesis this summer as innovation is key to delivering more-for-less to our customers in this competitive market."
Sunesis Leisure will allow for the development of a wide range of facilities, including "flexible spaces" for swimming, indoor sports and aerobics, as well as spa and therapy areas.
The standardised leisure centre concept will be developed alongside a business case, which will influence the final facility-mix of the venue and is designed to ensure financial sustainability.
• Willmott Dixon is currently working on a number of leisure projects in the UK, including a new S&P Architects-designed centre in St Albans and Gosport Sports Park.
