Three tourist attractions in North Wales - Trac Môn, Snowdon Mountain Railway and The Rhug Estate - have secured a share of £700,000 from the Welsh Assembly Government.

Trac Môn, a motor racing circuit at Ty Croes, Anglesey, has been awarded £200,000 to help upgrade facilities in a bid to attract a wider range of racing events. Snowdon Mountain Railway has been handed £300,000 to help fund the acquisition of new carriages, which will ensure the attraction can meet increased demand in high season.

Meanwhile, the Rhug Estate at Corwen will receive £200,000 towards the development of a new stone building housing a bistro/café and tourism information. Welsh heritage minister Alun Ffred Jones said: "The diverse nature of these three projects is a reflection of the range of attractions and activities which can be enjoyed in Wales.

"These attractions play a key role in their local economies in creating local jobs and also attracting people to the area who will go on to spend money elsewhere in the area." Image: Snowdon Mountain Railway – Porius1
