Virgin takes first step into weight management
Virgin Active is to incorporate metabolism measurement into its member fitness programmes to offer a personalised approach to weight management.
This is the company’s first step into weight management.
“Obesity and being overweight are significant global issues,” said group chief executive, Frank Reed.
“We’re incorporating the latest technology available to offer a scientifically-based approach to weight management, which will help members understand their unique calorie needs to achieve their individual goals.”
The company will use the BodyGem device from Colorado-based company, HealtheTech.
The handheld device measures metabolism with a simple five to 10 minute breath test.
Personal Trainers have been trained on the product and will give consultations to individuals advising on how to use the information reach their fitness and weight management goals more effectively.
“The BodyGem device allows us to establish our members’ programmes based on their unique physiology to achieve better results,” said Reed.
