A new £1.1m High Performance Sports Science and Sports Medicine Facility has opened at the University of Stirling to help Scottish athletes prepare for international competition.
The scheme was joint-funded by Stirling, Scotland's University for Sporting Excellence and sportscotland, with athletes in the funding agency's institute of sport network.
Students on the university's International Sports Scholarship Programme will also make use of the centre, as well as health and exercise science researchers and institute sports scientists.
Facilities include two main laboratories allowing for bio-mechanical analysis and performance assessment of athletes, along with physiotherapy treatment areas.
Sports clubs and national governing bodies will also use the sports science facility, while the physiotherapy service will be available to members of the local community.
Stirling-based MacDuff Architects were behind the design of the facility, while the project also involved Brownriggs; Woolgar Hunter; Environmental Services Design; and Clark Contracts.
sportscotland chair Louise Martin said: "This new £1.1m jointly funded facility will bring real benefits to the local community and high performance athletes."
