Universal Studios launches new studio tour
Universal Parks & Resorts has revamped the studio tram tour at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, US.
The new 45-minute tour – narrated by actress Whoopi Goldberg – pulls into a film set inspired by The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Cars styled on those featured in the film hurtle towards visitors in an explosive robotic display accompanied by hip-hop music.
The tram then moves into a Jurassic Park inspired film set featuring flying robotic cars and leaping dinosaurs, before passing through a panoramic backdrop of Skull Island, where a life-size replica of the S.S. Venture ship – as seen in King Kong – navigates through dense marine fog. The tram then shudders to stop as King Kong emits a deafening primal roar.
The studio tour then enters a film set including smouldering cars and houses destroyed by an authentic but devastated 747 jet, as featured in Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds.
The enhancements comprise the most sweeping changes made to the studio tour in more than a decade and feature the greatest number of new additions to the attraction since the first trams rolled along the Universal backlot in 1964.
Universal Studios introduced the new studio tour experience owing to the unprecedented number of movies and episodic television shows currently in production. Details: www.universalstudios.com
