Universal to launch two new attraction concepts – one in Texas and another in Las Vegas
Universal Parks & Resorts has revealed plans to launch two entirely new visitor attractions concepts – a family-focused theme park and resort in Texas and a year-round horror experience in Las Vegas.
Described as a "one-of-a-kind theme park, unlike any other in the world", the new Texas resort will feature immersive themed lands, family-friendly attractions, interactive shows and character 'meet and greets' utilising Universal’s IP.
Designed as intimate and engaging for younger audiences – and sized for a regional audience – the as-yet-unnamed park is intended to have a completely different look, feel and scale from Universal’s existing parks.
"We elected the city of Frisco, in North Texas, as the area for this new concept, given the city’s growing population and ability to attract businesses to the area," Universal said.
Meanwhile, the attractions and entertainment giant has also announced plans for a brand-new permanent entertainment experience in Las Vegas.
Bringing to life Universal’s library of classic horror films, the attraction will feature a variety of unique, immersive, horror-centric experiences that surround food and beverage spaces by day turning into haunting bars and eateries by night.
The new concept marks the first time Universal has created a permanent horror experience beyond its theme parks and will feature a continuously updated experience and seasonal events.
The 110,000sq ft space will be an anchor tenant in a 20-acre expansion of Las Vegas’ immersive AREA15 entertainment district that opened to the public in September 2020.
Page Thompson, president, new ventures, Universal Parks & Resorts, said: "Universal is known for its ability to deliver original, highly-themed and terrifying horror entertainment experiences for millions of fans every year.
“We're excited to give our global fanbase yet another way to get scared and have fun with fear in the heart of Las Vegas, the perfect place for this type of unique concept.”
