Extraordinary Brands scoops up Neigbourhood Barre as it grows its multi-modality business
US boutique franchise business, Extraordinary Brands, has added to its portfolio of boutique brands with the acquisition of Neighborhood Barre.
Its current portfolio includes Row House, which it acquired from Xponential Fitness in May 2024.
Founded by Paul Flick in 2022, Extraordinary Brands is a US-based multi-franchisor platform, which is growing through a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic start-ups. Flick is looking to replicate the success of his home services company, Premium Service Brands, by following the same model of multiple associated franchises under one umbrella.
The company was launched with the acquisition of the four-unit indoor cycling concept, Pūrvelo Cycle, in June 2022. It was joined in April this year by Eat the Frog Fitness, a personalised group training concept co-founded by Olympic Gold Medalist, Bryan Clay. The brand now has multiple sites across the US.
This was followed in May by the acquisition of Row House, with plans to support the rowing concept with marketing, operations and growth strategies.
The most recent addition, Neighborhood Barre, was founded in 2011 by Katy Richardson, with the first studio in Knoxville, TN. The workout combines elements of dance conditioning, Pilates, and resistance training. There are currently 22 studios open and several in development.
"Neighborhood Barre is a beloved concept, and Katy has expertly crafted a brand that resonates uniquely with its audience," said RJ Krone, president of Extraordinary Brands. "We are excited to incorporate Neighborhood Barre into our portfolio and further expand our franchise footprint nationwide. This addition strengthens our commitment to offering a diverse range of boutique fitness concepts under the Extraordinary Brands umbrella."
Extraordinary Brands is on the hunt for more acquisitions, with its sights set on Pilates, indoor cycling, HIIT and recovery concepts.
