US$1.8m Syna Tiger Resort opens in India
Great Hotels of the World has announced the opening of the US$1.8m (EUR1.3m, £1.1m) Syna Tiger Resort in Bandhavgarh, India, after four years in development.
The resort covers 437sq km (169sq miles) of land on the edge of the Bandhavgarh National Park and includes the Wildwood Spa, which comprises two elements.
A 400sq ft (37.2sq m) structure with two treatment rooms forms the first element of the new spa, while the second is three individual gazebos located amid the resort gardens.
Bali, Indonesia-based tropical garden designer Made Wijaya and Mumbai-based DeFACTO Architects were involved in the design of the Syna Tiger Resort and spa facilities.
Modus Vivendi Hospitality runs the new resort, which includes 15 cottages and a 'signature' treehouse; a fitness centre; restaurants; a bar; and an organic farm.
Syna Tiger Resort uses local produce, features no plastic and incorporates environmentally-friendly techniques such as rainwater harvesting and recycling programmes.
Modus Vivendi Hospitality chair Arpan Dutta said: "Syna Tiger Resort will set an example for other resorts to follow. Syna Tiger Resort will take tourists' expectations to a deeper and higher level."
