Two-storey gym planned for Staffordshire
An application for a two-storey health and fitness centre in Staffordshire has been submitted.
The gym – to be built in Burntwood – is the brainchild of Raw Iron Gym, which already owns the Muscle Beach fitness centre.
According to local paper the Express & Star, the gym would be built over two floors and contain a separate women’s gym, a dance studio and fitness studios, as well as a full-sized boxing ring.
The paper quoted Raw Iron Gym’s owner Ian Edwards as saying: “Muscle Beach has been going now for almost 21 years and it’s getting a bit dilapidated.
“We want to expand the business and open up a better facility for our clients. We’ve always been known as a men’s body building gym and we want to appeal to a wider audience. That’s why we have plans to build a separate gym for women.”
Edwards told the paper that if Lichfield District Council approves the scheme, then Muscle Beach would close down.
A decision is expected before 24 December.
