Two options for Eastbourne park scheme
Members of Eastbourne Borough Council's (EBC) cabinet have agreed to draw up detailed business cases for two of the proposed redevelopment options for Devonshire Park.
London-based Marks Barfield Architects were behind a number of potential designs for the scheme, with councillors now set to explore Option Two and Option Four in further detail.
Proposals being considered by EBC comprise improved facilities for the international tennis tournament, which could also see the possible relocation of centre court within the park.
New cafés, restaurants and visitors spaces; an exhibition/conference venue; improvements to the Congress Theatre and Winter Gardens; and upgraded seafront links are also mooted.
It is anticipated that the capital cost of the schemes will range between £30m and £43m, with the fourth option currently deemed to be the most expensive.
EBC leader David Tutt said: "We now have two options that will be subject to further analysis to establish the long term benefits and viability."
