Two new hotels are set to open as part of a major US$2.5bn (£1.6bn, €1.8bn) sports, residential and entertainment development in downtown Los Angeles, US.
The JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at LA Live - due to open on 15 February - and the Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles, which will launch on 15 March, will be housed within a 54-storey tower designed by architect Gensier. Facilities at the 878-bedroom JW Marriott property will incorporate 77,000sq ft (7,154sq m) of indoor meeting and events space, three ballrooms, the ION rooftop pool bar and lounge and the Glance lobby bar and lounge, as well as a 4,000sq ft (372sq m) JW fitness suite located on the second floor.
The 123-bedroom Ritz-Carlton hotel - located between floors 22 and 26 of the tower - will boast a 3,400sq ft (316sq m) Club Lounge, a fitness centre, a private rooftop pool and bar and a 24th floor signature restaurant. Both hotels will share the 8,000sq ft (743sq m) Ritz-Carlton spa facilities on the second floor of the hotel tower, which will feature nine treatment rooms, therapy baths, a steamroom and a range of treatments.
The hotel complex will be within short walking distance from LA Live's other attractions, such as the STAPLES Centre - home of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball and Los Angeles Kings ice hockey teams, the 7,100-seat Nokia Theatre and the 2,300-capacity Club Nokia, as well as the Grammy Museum.
