Trust to take over Runnymede leisure facilities
A new charitable trust is set to take over the operation of Runnymede's leisure facilities after the local authority agreed the proposals as part of a service review.
Runnymede Borough Council (RBC) is still carrying out the review but has agreed two measures for the future of leisure provision, which also includes reducing opening hours at Addlestone Leisure Centre. A spokesperson for RBC said: "The council faces a challenging financial situation, and people will be well aware of the picture in the country as a whole.
"The council is confident that with careful management it can reshape its services to meet the practical and economic needs of the 21st century, but has to make some changes and will try to minimise the impact on the public."
