Triple 5 Star for Drumnadrochit
The village of Drumnadrochit (population 980) now boasts three 5-star attractions! The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre joins Urquhart Castle and Jacobite – Experience Loch Ness, in recently achieving the coveted 5-star grading accolade from VisitScotland.
The centre, first opened in 1979 by Ronnie Bremner, has become a well-established and popular stop for thousands of visitors each year drawn to the area by the legend of Loch Ness.
However, in 2006, centre managing director Robbie Bremner, along with his brother David, believed changing perceptions of Loch Ness and a new generation of visitors made it necessary to ‘move with the times’.
Together with exhibition designer Adrian Shine they set about realising their vision for a unique tourism and hospitality venue using state of the art interpretations themed on natural history, science geology and local tradition.
The success of that transformation and its celebration of the mystery and intrigue of the Loch produced today’s 5-Star Loch Ness Centre.
Robbie said: “I am absolutely delighted that The Centre has now achieved 5-Star status. The hardest decisions in business can sometimes be to change something which has been running successfully for many years. However, recently we have invested in a new look and more comprehensive view of Loch Ness for our visitors.
“We have upgraded the entire centre, from the exhibition right through the retail and the catering facilities and are very proud of the Centre and its recent achievements.”
The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre already works together with Jacobite and Urquhart to offer a single ticket which provides visitors with the ultimate five-star Loch Ness Experience.
The Loch Ness & Great Glen area is already bidding for UNESCO World Heritage Status and to have three 5-star attractions in the same town and be working together must certainly support that effort.
