Travelodge increases central London presence
Budget hotel group, Travelodge, has acquired two further central London properties from Thistle Group.
The 375-room Travelodge London Islington and the Travelodge London Farringdon are now available for bookings and join the company’s existing three central London properties – in King’s Cross, Covent Garden and Liverpool Street.
There are a further 17 Travelodge hotels within London.
Grant Hearn, CEO, said: “Our two new hotels mean we can now offer families even more comfy, central London hotel rooms at a great price, leaving them more money to spend on fun stuff with the family while in London.”
Ben Roberts, Travelodge’s development director said the company is still looking for further acquisitions. “Travelodge has a tremendous appetite for more going concerns and sites in London,” he said. “We need to have a minimum of 3,000 rooms in the central London area as quickly as possible.”
The company says it keeps its prices low by stripping its hotels of the ‘unwanted extras’ it claims cost guests £186m – including trouser presses, fridges and toiletries. It currently operates more than 250 hotels throughout the UK and Ireland. Details: www.travelodge.co.uk
