Trafalgar Square top of the tourist trail
Trafalgar Square is the top tourist attraction for international travellers to the UK, according to a survey carried out by First Rate Exchange Services amongst tourists from the USA, Ireland, Spain, France and Germany.
Among the nationalities, when asked which UK attraction they most wanted to visit during their time in Britain, 51 per cent of Americans named Buckingham Palace as a 'must visit', while Irish visitors went for the shopping option and cited Oxford Street as their first port of call. The French ventured further afield, with Edinburgh Castle, Oxford University and the White Cliffs of Dover featuring highly. According to the poll, the complete Top 10 attractions are: Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, the London museums, Buckingham Palace, Oxford Street, the London Eye, Windsor Castle, Edinburgh Castle, Stonehenge and the Globe Theatre on London's South Bank.
