Towcester masterplan put on show
A draft masterplan for the redevelopment of Towcester has been put on display by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) in order to gather the views of local residents and stakeholders.
Produced by London-based planning and design practice Urban Initiatives, the 15-year vision for the future of the Northamptonshire town includes the potential development of a new museum and a performance venue for live music. The draft masterplan proposes improving facilities at the town's rugby club, which already offers tennis courts, a clubhouse and cricket, hockey and rugby facilities, as well as Towcester Leisure Centre, which currently includes a swimming pool, a fitness suite, badminton courts and an all-weather pitch.
A new activity centre for young people and additional sports pitches also form part of the masterplan, which was approved by SNC's cabinet on 8 June and will remain on public display until 7 August. West Northamptonshire Development Corporation and Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited are also involved with the scheme, which aims to transform Towcester into a vibrant market town over the next 10-15 years.
