Tornado water slide blasts into Wet'n'Wild Las Vegas
Thrill-seekers visiting Wet ‘n’ Wild Las Vegas will be able to experience the Tornado – a funnel water slide that simulates a natural storm – when the park opens for its second season on 12 April.
The four-person raft attraction sends riders from 36ft (11m) in the air through a 110ft (33.5m) tunnel before dropping them into the 45ft (13.7m)-wide funnel where they spin back and forth through swirling water before dropping through a centre hole.
As the raft sweeps up the Tornado wall and crosses its centre line, guests experience weightlessness or zero gravity, before eventually descending into the exit pool.
Developed by Canadian-based ProSlide Technology, the Tornado has won a number of awards, including the Industry Impact Award from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).
The latest addition to the Wet 'n' Wild theme park – a partnership between majority owner and operator Village Roadshow Theme Parks and Vegas-based private equity fund SPB Partners – takes the number of water slides at the 20-acre park past 25.
