Three sports facilities added to SGL estate
South Gloucestershire Leisure (SGL) has confirmed that it has added three new facilities - two sports centres and an outdoor sports complex - to its portfolio.
The venues - Yate Outdoor Sports Complex, Patchway Sports Centre and Downend Sports Centre - will increase the number of sites operated by the charitable trust to eight. SGL works alongside South Gloucestershire Council to deliver local sports provision and already operates facilities in Bradley Stoke, Kingswood and Longwell Green.
It is hoped that the transfer of the three latest sites from the local authority to the trust will help reduce the cost to taxpayers, while taking advantage of SGL's leisure management experience. SGL chief executive Mark Crutchley said: "We look forward to working with the communities in Downend, Patchway and Yate to provide a range of facilities and activities which will contribute to the health, cultural and social wellbeing of the areas."
