Three new Renaissance hotels for Europe
As part of plans announced earlier this year to double the company's presence in Europe by 2015, Marriott International has signed agreements for the opening of two new hotels in France and one in Switzerland.
The three properties - the 87-room Renaissance Lucerne Hotel, the 139-room Renaissance Aix-en-Provence Hotel and the Renaissance Paris Saint-Cloud Hotel - bring to 27 the total number of hotels currently under development by Marriott in Europe. The Renaissance Lucerne Hotel will open in 2011 under a franchise agreement with Hotel Schiller Betriebe. Formerly the Hotel Schiller and located on Pilatusstrasse, the building dates back to 1909 and will be the company's first hotel in the lakeside city.
Scheduled to open in 2012, the Renaissance Aix-en-Provence will operate under a franchise agreement with ARTHOTEL Aix-en-Provence SAS. The newly built property will be located in the heart of the city centre and feature two restaurants, a destination bar and an outdoor pool. Another new build property, the Renaissance Paris Saint-Cloud is to open in 2013 and will be the fifth Renaissance property in Paris. Operating as a franchise with - and situated adjacent to - Paris Country Club SA in Saint-Cloud, France, the hotel will bear the same country manor style and half-timbered façade design of the Paris Country Club itself.
Facilities planned include two restaurants, a bar, 743sq m (8,000sq ft) of meeting space, and an outdoor pool and spa.
