Thermarium Bäder-Bau designs giant spa complex for Oslo, Norway
Spa design consultancy and equipment manufacturer Thermarium Bäder-Bau is working on a three-storey spa outside Oslo, Norway, which is set to open at the end of 2015.
The Canica Spa Complex, funded by a private investor, is part of a 6,230sq m (67,059sq ft) leisure development being developed by Canica AS. The day spa will measure 3,700sq m (39,826sq ft). Thermarium is providing the concept, engineering, interior design and final construction services for the spa.
The first floor of the spa will include experience showers, cold and warm pools, a Nordic laconium that features a polar lighting effect. There is also a cinema sauna and rasul bath on this floor, in addition to a bio herbal sauna, nature shower, shower grotto, jungle sauna and shower. A steam pool with marble and a real gold mosaic can be found in an art deco area, as well as a hydro pool built in a circle, two whirlpools, foot basins and a lounge with a fireplace.
The second floor has a private hammam area, changing facilities, a larger hammam and experience showers. There is also a hammam steambath and two double scrub rooms, plus a relaxation room. The treatment area can also be found on this floor, featuring a manicure room for three people, a hydrotherapy pool and shower, two cosmetic/ massage rooms, six full body massage rooms, a three-person capacity pedicure room, a Thai massage room, two hot stone therapy rooms and three more full body massage rooms with showers. There is also a treatment lounge and boutique on this floor.
The third floor will include a Japanese steambath with a basalt stone fountain, a Japanese sauna, another lounge with a fireplace, experience showers overlooking a Japanese garden, and a meditation room that is also a 45-50ºC (113-122ºF) sauna.
Thermarium has also recently appointed a new management team, consisting of Adrian Egger and Jürgen Klingenschmid. Egger is a spa expert with more than 15 years' experience in the spa industry and has recently been appointed as the Austrian Ambassador to the Global Wellness Day. Klingenschmid has more than 30 years' experience in the industry, including in the role of vice president of the Austrian Sauna Forum and committee member of the Austrian Standards Institute.
