Queen opens new hub for Commonwealth Games Federation
The Queen has cut the ribbon on a new facility which will be the home of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) together with its sister Commonwealth organisations.
The CGF will move into the centre – which is titled Commonwealth Hub, and located in London’s Marlborough House and Quadrant House – during the summer. The body will be joined by the Royal Commonwealth Society and the Commonwealth Local Government Forum.
It is expected that other Commonwealth organisations will join the hub, and for Quadrant House to be renamed Commonwealth House.
Commonwealth Hub will help deliver secretary general Patricia Scotland’s vision of all the Commonwealth organisations working closely together and honour commitments such as health, education, climate change and good governance.
Her vision chimes with the CGF’s Transformation 2022, which puts innovation, governance and brand recognition at the heart of its offer.
Louise Martin, CGF president, said that partnerships were at the “heart of Transformation 2022”.
She added: “We rely on and enjoy incredibly positive partnerships with colleagues across the Commonwealth family to promote the Commonwealth, deliver projects or showcase initiatives on the level playing field of sport.”
