Techniquest exports exhibits to Europe
Techniquest Enterprises Ltd (TQE), the trading company of the Cardiff Bay Science Discovery Centre in the UK, has secured a contract to supply a suite of hands-on exhibits to a new science attraction in Germany.
Phaeno Science Centre in Wolfsburg - also home to the headquarters of Volkswagen and its branded attraction, Autostadt - is due to open in 2004. The centre aims to attract 260,000 visitors a year.
TQE will export 12 custom-built exhibits to Wolfsburg, which will be adapted to meet the new science centre's design brief. Unlike the primary-coloured puzzles and activities at Techniquest, Phaeno's exhibits will be wooden, angular and modular in style. The portfolio of products that TQE is supplying will include the Hydrogen Rocket, Vortex, Vocal Vowels and Paper Chromatography exhibits. Each are designed to demonstrate scientific principles in an engaging, interactive and fun way.
This year, TQE has also signed a contract to supply five exhibits for a new science centre in the Azores islands in the Atlantic. Closer to home, it sold a Power House exhibit to the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth, Mid Wales. In addition, TQE has provided seven hands-on exhibits for the Impossible exploratorium at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the UK.
