Table tennis boost for London's streets
A number of ping-pong tables installed on London's streets as part of an initiative to increase participation ahead of the 2012 are to remain in place.
The month-long Ping London scheme commenced on 22 July, with table tennis facilities made available at locations across the capital, including Soho Square and Heathrow Airport. However, event organisers have now announced that many of the locations that were featured as part of the project will keep tables available to members of the public.
St Pancras Station; Regents Park; the O2 Arena; and the BBC, White City, are among sites that will provide ongoing facilities to play table tennis. Ping London is the result of a partnership between the English Table Tennis Association and Sing London, a participatory arts organisation behind London's Street Pianos project.
Sport England supported the initiative.
