Swansea University signs training facility deal with Swansea City FC
Swansea University's Fairwood playing fields are to be transformed into a modern training facility under a new agreement with Swansea City Football Club (SCFC).
The Premier League club will lease the site from the university, with the centre to be used as a venue for competitive fixtures and training by the university's own football teams.
Facilities will include eight full-size pitches - two of which are to be all-weather; a dedicated training pitch and changing areas for SCFC's squad; and medical/physiotherapy rooms.
SCFC chair Huw Jenkins said: "We will work together to enhance the sporting facilities at Fairwood that will form part of the fabric of the city for many years to come."
University vice-chancellor Professor Richard B Davies added: "It is a particular delight and privilege to collaborate with a club whose success has put Swansea on the global map."
