Starwood's Westin brand to operate its first mixed-use development in southeast Asia
Starwood is set to operate both The Westin Manila Sonata Place and The Residences at The Westin Manila Sonata Place – two new-build properties owned by developers Robinsons Land Corporation – when they open in 2019 in the Philippines.
These Westin-branded facilities mark the brand’s first mixed-use development in southeast Asia. Both properties will join two other Philippines-based hotels in the Starwood pipeline – The Westin Manila Bayshore and Sheraton Manila Hotel, scheduled to open in 2018 and 2017.
The Westin Manila Sonata Place will have 300 guestrooms and will be located on the main street of Ortigas Business District in downtown Manila. The residence building will house 350 apartments, while hotel will offer three food and beverage venues, a fitness studio, full service spa and a swimming pool, plus more than 1,400sq m (15,069sq ft) of function space – including two ballrooms and six meeting rooms.
Residence owners will have access to a separate pool, fitness centre and lounge, as well as the public areas of the hotel.
“As a leading real estate developer in the Philippines, we are positive that our strong partnership [with Starwood] is set to uplift the real estate industry in Manila,” said Frederick Go, president and COO for Robinsons Land Corporation. “This project will be at the forefront of both our hotel and residential development portfolio, being the most luxurious project to-date of Robinsons.”
