Sporting Chance into its second year
Retail giant Asda has entered the second year of its £2m Sporting Chance scheme, which provides free sports for children across the UK.
The six-year Sporting Chance initiative will see Asda working together with SportsAid and local community sport providers, such as leisure centers and health clubs close to Asda stores, to provide activities for young people.
Consumers wanting to take part will be able to collect free vouchers at Asda stores, which then allows them to contact session providers in the area and book free activities.
As well as encouraging young children to do sports, Sporting Chance aims to assist the next generation of talented sportsmen and women by financing them with individual awards of up to £500.
Asda will help provide a broad range of sporting activities, with at least five free sessions available within a 10 mile radius of every Asda store in the country.
Andy Bond, CEO and president of Asda said: “Sport has always been integral to my life and it gives me a sense of tremendous pride that Asda is now helping to provide a wealth of sporting activities for kids in the community at no extra cost to mum.”
