Sport for Life Centre opens in Winnipeg
The first phase of the Sport for Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, has been officially opened.
Developed by Sport Manitoba, the 12,000sq ft building’s first phase includes education and training space, a sport resource centre, a sport medicine and science clinic and the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame Museum, as well as offices for Sport Manitoba and its partner organisations.
Phase two will include a 29,000sq ft fieldhouse featuring an indoor running/walking track, strength and cardio training centres and a multi-purpose sports room. Funding is yet to be secured for phase two and consequently a completion date has not been announced.
Sport Manitoba president and CEO, Jeff Hnatiuk, spoke at the grand opening of the Sport for Life Centre, saying: “This facility will serve as a resource to help educate and develop athletes, coaches, and officials at every level of sport.”
