Bitel to complete eight-year term as Sport England chair following reappointment
Nick Bitel will complete a full eight-year term as Sport England chair after being appointed for a second four-year period.
Bitel was originally appointed as chair of the grassroots sport quango in 2013.
His reappointment was rubberstamped by secretary of state for Culture, Media and Sport Karen Bradley. He will be paid £40,000 per annum for his service.
Over the past year Bitel has overseen the publication of Sport England Towards and Active Nation strategy. This year the organisation will begin to implement its new funding system.
Bitel has been chief executive of London Marathon Events since 1995 – an organisation that raises £59.4m per annum.
The Sport England chair is also a board member of UK Sport and a trustee of Wembley National Stadium Trust.
