Spanish gym chain to launch its own social network
Spanish health club operator DiR is rolling out a range of new initiatives as part of a strategy to "build the social aspect of being a DiR member".
The first is the new DiR social network called DiR Singles&Friends. It is an update of its existing dating site for members - DiR Singles.
Rather than targeting single members, it is designed with all members in mind, and aims to encourage socialising as well as offer DiR useful feedback.
Members can join groups that mirror their interests - such as parties, cycling, trekking, gourmet, running, urban Sports and adventure.
The idea is to extend the "DiR experience" to reach beyond the four walls of the club and to create brand loyalty through involvement.
The site also has discussion forums, a marketplace and an events calendar.
DiR, which operates all of its clubs in Barcelona, also preparing to launch its new DiR Virtual offering, with new videos, content and enhanced website usability.
Members wil be able to access information and advice away from the gym - for free.
Finally, the third annual Sant Cugat DiR road race took place last month, with around 2,000 participants for the 5km and 10km races.
