SpaFinder reveals 2011 global spa trends
Global spa and wellness resource SpaFinder has published its eighth annual forecast, which has identified the 10 trends expected to influence the industry in 2011.
Data from more than 9,000 spas and salons across the world; analysis from a wide range of experts; and interviews with sector analysts have helped shape the new report. Among the top trends forecast for 2011 is the growth of the baby boomer demographic and the need for spas to cater for older clients seeking pain relief and increased mobility.
The 'explosive' growth in the Asia hotel/spa market; salt rooms and salt caves; the science of spa treatments; and 'hyper-local' spas also feature as part of SpaFinder's list. Meanwhile, other trends to watch out for include the branding of spa experiences; spa deals; more extreme ways of generating results; speciality initiatives; and 'express' treatments.
SpaFinder president Susie Ellis said: "As someone who's watched the modern spa industry from its infancy, I have never seen the aggregate level of creativity and talent in the field, as wellness, fitness, beauty, design and cuisine are blended in unique new ways, just as the economy begins its upswing."
