Son of PortAventura manager makes generous gesture to Give Kids the World
Fernando Aldecoa Jr, the 17-year-old son of PortAventura World manager Fernando Aldecoa, donated his month's salary to well-known attractions industry charity Give Kids the World.
At a presentation at EAS, the teenager handed the cheque to charity CEO Pamela Landwirth. He had earned the sum of £1072.22 (US$1394, €1,246) while working at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the UK over the summer.
Aldecoa Jr said he wasn't expecting to paid, so decided to donate the money to Give Kids the World, a Florida-based attraction that offers cost-free vacations to children with terminal illnesses and their families.
Give Kids the World – a cost-free resort for children with life threatening illnesses – welcomed a record number of visitors in 2015, with 7,950 families visiting through the end of the year. By the end of 2016, the park is expected to welcome more than 8,000 families and since its inception has catered to more than 140,000 families.
