Twenty-four-hour gym franchise Snap Fitness has continued its UK expansion by securing its first club in Norfolk.

The US-based mid-market brand has signed a deal for three units at the mixed-use Thetford Riverside scheme, which it will use to create a club with a total floor space of 4,850sq ft.

Snap’s UK Master Group franchisee MSG Life will operate the gym, which is due to open in late September or early October this year.

Facilities will include a gym floor kitted out with cardio and resistance equipment from Technogym, a large free weights space and spacious functional training area, offering a range of classes from core strength to HIIT.

The functional space is also equipped with a virtual class system using the Fitness on Demand platform.

“We are really excited to add Snap Fitness Thetford to our ever growing portfolio and can’t wait to welcome our new members to our fantastic new club," said Ian Gosling, co-managing director of MSG Life.

Snap Fitness is in the midst of an ambitious expansion push across the UK.

The chain more than doubled its presence in 2017, reaching 44 locations, up from 21 at the start of the year. The expansion began in 2015 with only five clubs.

The company was founded in the US in 2003 by entrepreneur Peter Taunton and currently has more than 2,000 clubs across 18 countries.

The £8m Thetford Riverside scheme is anchored by a three-screen The Light cinema and a 62-bed Travelodge hotel.
