Sixth Pellikaan club opens
The Dutch health and fitness chain Pellikaan Health & Racquet Clubs opened its sixth high-end centre in Maastricht in December 2007.
Facilities at the 7,500sq m (80,730sq ft) centre include indoor and outdoor tennis courts, squash courts and a multi-purpose hall for badminton and volleyball.
The 160-station fitness suite at the new centre offers a full range of cardiovascular and resistance equipment as well as a freeweights area, with equipment provided by Innovex.
Two dance studios, a group cycling studio and a ‘soft’ studio – for mind-body classes such as yoga and pilates – complete the line-up of exercise areas.
The wellness area offers a training pool, hydrotherapy pool, steam and feature showers, as well as treatment rooms for physiotherapy and massages.
With Pellikaan’s family focus, the new club also offers a number of tailored activities for children including sports, games and entertainment.
The club is situated in a redevelopment area which includes other sports-related facilities such as a golf course, and replaces an existing tennis centre. Pellikaan’s five other clubs are located in Tilburg, Goirle, Breda, Apeldoorn and Amersfoort, where the company is building what they say will be the country’s first five-a-side football pitch.
