Six Flags NY launches interactive attraction
US-based theme park operator Six Flags has opened a new interactive play structure at its White Water Bay water park within the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge in New York.
The 4,375sq ft (406sq m) AquaPlay Tall Timbers Treehouse has a fishing theme and features a giant wooden bucket that periodically spills gallons of water onto guests waiting below.
The interactive attraction also boasts three waterslides, ranging in size from 137ft (42ft) to 156ft (48m) in length and 18ft (5.5m) in height.
Six Flags is currently exploring the potential strategic options for six of its properties across the US, including a possible sale, although the Great Escape Lodge in New York is not believed to be one of the sites under consideration.
The six parks are Darien Park in Buffalo, New York; Waterworld in Concord, California; Elitch Gardens in Denver, Colorado; Wild Waves and Enchanted Village in Seattle, Washington; Splashtown in Houston, Texas and Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbour in Los Angeles, California.
In March this year, the company sold its Astroworld park in Houston, Texas, for US$77m (£42m, 61.2m euro) and has since announced that it will be selling its two parks in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Details: www.sixflags.com
