Shavington Leisure Centre revamp to be completed by October
Construction of a new fitness facility at Shavington Leisure Centre in Cheshire is due to completed by October.
The Everybody Interactive facility will feature a vertical traverse climbing wall, multiplayer dance mat systems and balance boards, with equipment supplied by Shokk fitness.
The existing Everybody fitness suite and reception area will also be improved and a new lift installed.
Andrew Knowles, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing at Cheshire East Council, said: “For some people the equipment in a traditional gym is not enough to encourage them to get active and exercise for the benefit of their health.
“It could be that they lack the incentive or feel their fitness levels are not up to those of dedicated gym users and they need an area to kickstart their exercise regime.
“The new interactive facility is designed to be an exciting and energetic alternative to the traditional gym and should appeal to all age groups and abilities, particularly the young.”
The project is being funded by the council, Waste Recycling Group, Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust, Rope and Shavington Parish Councils and Cheshire Fire Brigade.
