Search facility for health referral

The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) is offering a free exercise referral search facility for health practitioners as part of a drive to encourage wider public health participation.

Health centres and health professionals are being encouraged to contact the Register’s team who will then search the database to find fitness professionals who meet their specific needs.

Registrar Cliff Collins said: “Our search programme is designed to help ensure referred patients who have been prescribed certain types of exercise are given the best possible instruction.

“For example, we were recently contacted by a cardiac rehabilitation referral unit in Northumbria who were looking for instructors who were qualified to work with the kind of patients they treat.

“After researching we were able to put them in touch with 22 specialist exercise professionals in their area.”
