Scotland receives tourism training funding
The Scottish Executive is set to receive funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) to enhance the value of the tourism sector and create further tourism employment opportunities across lowland Scotland.
The Quality Customer Service Training in the Tourism Industry project will receive a £176,530 grant towards the provision of Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) and a structured programme of short courses to enable tourism businesses to reach Quality Assurance standards.
The project will work with 120 organisations, focusing on the areas identified as a high priority for the lowland Scotland area within the existing Tourism Framework for Change. These will include angling, sailing/water sports, golf, wildlife tourism, national park welcome programmes and ancestral tourism. Details: www.scotland.gov.uk
