School Games to launch in September
The new nationwide School Games concept is to launch this September, with schools across the country interesting in taking part now being invited to register for more information.
A website - www.yourschoolgames.com has now been launched as part of the initiative, which aims to increase competitive sport. Both primary and secondary students are being given the chance to take part in intra-school; inter-school; and regional competitions, which will culminate in a national event next year.
Schools can also use their participation in the School Games to qualify for tickets to events at the 2012 Games, with 100,000 available through the London 2012 Get Set Network. Sport England chair Richard Lewis said: "We want every young person to have the chance to enjoy competitive sport at the right level for them in a wide range of sports."
Youth Sport Trust chair Sue Campbell added: "The School Games provides the perfect opportunity for young people of all ages and abilities to be involved in competition across a range of sports, at a level that is right for them." Details: www.yourschoolgames.com
